Release notes
What is new
Version 4.0.22 (October 2026)
- Sample reports and a welcome window in the Windows (Delphi and .NET), Linux and macOS designers: nine sample reports — invoices, a letter with HTML text, address labels, a product catalogue with EAN-13 barcodes, sales with charts, text in nine languages and eight scripts… — that read a small SQLite database installed with them, so they can be previewed right away. The welcome window shows them at startup and from Help → Sample reports…, and opens a copy in the documents folder, where they can be changed and saved. A SQLite database given with a relative path is looked for next to the report.
- Local schemas for the AI copilot — describe the tables, columns,
relations and allowed values of a database in a file on your computer, read
from the catalog of the connection (SQLite included); only the descriptions go
to the AI, never the data. Open them from the gear of each connection in the
data configuration and choose them, with the cloud schemas, in the SQL editor
of the datasets.
- Import from the schema library: ready-made schemas of ERP systems (Odoo, SAP Business One, SAP R/3, Business Central and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations), with the system detected from the tables of your database and the company name of the table names filled in.
- Large databases: a filter of words finds the tables with all of them in the name or the description, and the columns of a catalog of thousands of tables are read when a table is used. Every read of the database shows its progress and can be cancelled.
- Export all and Import all move the schemas of a connection to another installation; when the connection already has schemas, the import merges them or replaces them.
- Every relation can be deleted, also those read from the database, and the validation of a schema by the AI lets you choose the AI that does it.
Version 4.0.21 (October 2026)
- Sign in with Apple for Reportman AI in the Windows, Linux and macOS designers, as well as with Google, Microsoft or a code sent by e-mail; the login buttons show the logo of each provider.
- Notarized macOS designer — the universal
.dmgis signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple: it opens with a double click, without the right click → Open of earlier versions. See macOS.
Version 4.0.20 (October 2026)
- Report Manager Designer for macOS — since version 4.0.19 the
designer runs on the Mac as a native Cocoa application, a universal
.dmgfor Intel and Apple Silicon. Text is now measured, laid out and painted with Core Text, the text engine of macOS: the preview, the print and the PDF show the same glyphs, Arabic and other complex scripts included. See macOS. - Help in the object inspector of the Windows, Linux and macOS designers: click the name of a property, use its context menu or press F1 (Cmd+? on the Mac).
Version 4.0.16 include these new features (September 2026)
- Report Manager Designer for the Linux desktop — the full
designer, built with Lazarus and Qt 6: a
.debpackage for Ubuntu 22.04+ and Debian 12+, an AppImage for other distributions and a transitional GTK2 package. Menus and dialogs follow the language of the desktop. It has the dialogs of the Windows designer: database connections, the AI new report wizard, the report library, page setup with PDF options, metadata and embedded files, and printer configuration. See Linux desktop designer. - Lazarus and Free Pascal packages — the reporting engine with PDF export, the LCL preview and printing, and the embeddable report designer, for Windows and Linux. Install them from the Lazarus Online Package Manager; the components appear on the Reportman page of the component palette. See Lazarus / Free Pascal.
- AI assistants on Linux and in Lazarus — report design, SQL with your schema and expressions, as in the Windows designer. AI changes to a report can be undone step by step.
- AI SQL suggestion in the Linux SQL editor — write a comment in natural language and the AI proposes the SQL that implements it at the cursor; Tab accepts it. The editor also completes the tables and columns of your schema.
- The Linux report server tools (Web Report Server, printreptopdf) no longer
need
libmidas.so. - The ActiveX control registers again on Windows XP.
- Fixes found while porting the engine to Free Pascal, which also reach the Delphi engine: bold and italic of the base font in shaped text (right to left and HTML) in PDF output, justification of right-to-left text, memory leaks of embedded files, and the chart Y axis range saved only when it is not the default.
- Designer fixes: changes that were lost on close without asking to save (a field dropped on a section, section heights adjusted to 1/n inch, embedded files, dataset unions and text file settings), lines per inch that did not undo, Zeos connections created by the new report wizard without protocol, the report library tree (moves, groups) and the masked password of ADO connection strings; decimals of currency fields and time fields of text files.
Version 4.0.10 include this new features (June 2026)
- AI Copilot in the Report Designer to help you edit, create, debug and analyze your reports.
- AI report generation from an optional schema: provide a schema and the AI will generate a new report for you. Total privacy — only the schema is sent to the AI, never your data. Schemas are defined and bound on app.reportman.es and can be reused to build KPIs in the new Reportman app.
- AI Expression assistant to help you create and refine report expressions.
- New AI-enabled SQL autocomplete in the SQL editor.
- New AI natural language query creation and modification — describe what you need in plain language and the AI writes or edits the SQL query for you.
- New report connection wizard to set up your report data source, aligned with your saved connections (direct database or Reportman DB Agent).
- Optional HTML rendering for labels and expressions: font name,
size, style and color via HTML, with expression interpolation using
{{EXPRESSION}}. - Reportman DB Agent connections — execute your reports from everywhere.
- Undo and redo support in the Report Designer, with persistent history.
- Docker-enabled Report Server — REST API and self-hosted web (repweb) for Linux/Apache.
